The water budget is a relatively new discipline to help property owners analyze water usage and identify opportunities to conserve. It is most commonly used during new home designing and community planning. The popularity of the water budget tool is expected to grow as water rates continue to increase.
In 2009, the EPA WaterSense program expects to debut a water budget analysis tool for use in securing the agency's WaterSense label for new home construction.
